Band Profiles - Gary | Jason | Robbie | Mark | Howard

Gary Barlow (born January 20, 1971)

Singer and songwriter, still best known as the ex-leader of Take That. Gary was recognised as the musical talent behind the band.

After the split Gary went solo, and his first release, "Forever Love" , was an immediate number one hit. His next album, "Open Road" , went to the top of the chart, as did his second solo single "Love Won't Wait" .

After the media had just declared him the greatest songwriter of current time, the media turned their backs him. The press staged a battle between Gary and Robbie after "Angels" was a hit. Gary quit his career as a singer, he returned to songwriting and producing. He is now company president of True North Music Company

Jason Orange (born July 10, 1970)

After they split up in 1996 he went into acting for a while. In 1999 he performed in "Gob" by Jim Kenworth at the King's Head Theatre in London.

Robbie Williams (born 13 February 1974)

After frequently battleing with fellow band members and management, Robbie left the band in 1995.

After leaving Take That, Robbie had a highly publicised battle with drug and alcohol addiction. Robbie was predicted to never be a success after a well-publicised fallout with Oasis, Noel Gallagher famously refused to recognise him as anything but "that fat dancer from Take That".

He launched his solo career in 1996. "Angels" is the song credited with single-handedly rescuing Robbie's career, and has proved to be one of his most popular yet.

Robbie has gone on to become one of the most successful male solo artists ever.

Robbie will take his place in the 2007 Guiness World Records after selling more than 1.6 million (estimated £80 million) tickets in one day for his 2006 world tour. He has snatched the record from N'sync who had previously sold 1 million tickets.

Mark Owen (born January 27, 1972)

Mark became the first ex-member to release a solo record. In 1997 his album Green Man was released. It charted at a dissapointing #33. Despite selling over one million copies of Green Man, Mark was dropped by BMG in late 1997.

Mark won the second series of Celebrity Big Brother in 2002. This return brought a deal with Island/Universal records. In August 2003, Mark returned to the charts with the Top 5 hit, "Four Minute Warning". However, further unsuccessful hits saw him dropped by Island/Universal records.

In April 2004 he established his own record company called Sedna Records Ltd.

Howard Donald (born 28 April 1968)

After the band broke up in 1996, Howard spent much time developing his songwriting skills and trying to land himself a solo record deal. However, he has since relaunched himself as a successful club DJ.
